WHEREAS, sea turtles in the Caribbean Sea are on the United States’ list of threatened and endangered species; and
WHEREAS, National Wildlife Federation policy supports strong efforts to protect, enhance and recover populations of endangered species, nationally and internationally; and
WHEREAS, there has been established the Wider Caribbean Sea Turtle Recovery Team and Conservation Network, a multinational voluntary organization of scientists and conservationists dedicated to the prevention of extinction and the conservation of the sea turtles of the Caribbean Sea;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the National Wildlife Federation in annual meeting assembled March 19-22, 1987, in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada, supports the efforts of the Wider Caribbean Sea Turtle Recovery Team and Conservation Network and shall seek such opportunities as may be advisable and appropriate to contribute to, and participate in its activities.
