Wild Rivers in Washington

WHEREAS, the Skagit, Sauk, Suiattle, and Cascade Rivers in the State of Washington possess superlative recreational and aesthetic values of major significance to large numbers of people; and

WHEREAS, there is a demonstrated need to protect these streams and the associated lands from pollution and development; and

WHEREAS, these streams and their watersheds support native fisheries, provide habitat for many species of wildlife, and offer outstanding recreational opportunities;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the National Wildlife Federation, in annual meeting assembled March 16-19, 1978, in Phoenix, Ariz., hereby supports classification of the Skagit, Sauk, Suiattle, and Cascade Rivers under the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System.
