Director, Region 13
(ID, MT, WY)
My name is Siva Sundaresan and I am delighted to be nominated for the Western Vice-Chair position on the NWF Board of Directors. Thank you for this opportunity.
I currently serve as Region 13 Director (WY, MT and ID). I live and work in Lander, WY with my wife and two sons. I enjoy and love the outdoors in all forms, hiking, camping, biking, hunting, birdwatching…whatever. My professional background is in wildlife ecology and conservation. I studied the ecology and behavior of large mammalian ungulates and carnivores for several years, mostly in India and Kenya. During this time, I also became intimately involved in wildlife conservation policy and practice. For the last 7+ years, I have lived in Wyoming and worked on wildlife conservation issues in the Greater Yellowstone region, a place of remarkable wildlife, public lands and conservation challenges and opportunities. I joined the Wyoming Wildlife Federation board several years ago motivated by my passion to support an effective, grassroots wildlife conservation group. I’m proud to have been part of a board and staff team that has worked to strengthen the Wyoming Wildlife Federation over these last few years. Two years ago, I was elected to the NWF Regional Director (WY, MT, ID) position. Over these two years, I have learned more about the work of affiliates in MT and WY. I have also come to admire and appreciate NWF’s leadership in being a collaborative, credible voice for wildlife conservation for people of all interests.
I approach the opportunity to serve as Western Vice-Chair with both humility and excitement. I hope to learn more about our affiliates and their work. I will do my best to share the views, concerns and ideas of our western affiliates with the national board so we continue to work effectively as one federation family.
